BENTHEIM 04:45
BENTHEIM (Words & Music: Simone Helle) Bentheim, it's time to go. Now it's time to go. So frosty outside - and time to go – it's all right. Bentheim, it's time to go. I know it's time to go. Your place warm inside - and time to go – it's all right. We shared the same situations from different points of view. Without discussions - with no regrets. Just shared some time – it's all right. Bentheim, it's time to go. My companion, my feline friend - it's time to go. You'll find a new home - or catch some rats outside – it's all right.

MY STARRY EYES (Words & Music: Simone Helle) When you told me I hurt you so and you turned your back on me. I was so afraid of loosing you, but whatever it takes I’ll let you go. Since I gave birth to you, my dear child you are the apple of my eye. I’m so sorry of hurting you and whatever it takes I’ll let you know: Don’t you know you’ll always be my starry eye! Beloved also in cloudy and stormy times! Should my point of view has disappointed you - I never meant to hurt you so! Oh no! Don’t you know? Don’t you know? Don’t you know? You are my starry eye! You’re gorgeous and you are very smart, but what makes you a sensation is the richness of your heart! So you decided to leave our quarrel behind and concentrate on common things we both have in mind. May positions be different and disappointments be there I know these aspects of life are not easy to bear. And if my point of view has disappointed you - I never meant to hurt you so! Oh no!Don’t you know? Don’t you know? Don’t you know? You are my starry eye!

LOVE BIRDS 02:53
LOVE BIRDS (Words & Music: Maurice A. Lee & Sigrid Beuting) Love Birds fly over every Avenue. It makes me feel like being with you. Why cant we be like Love Birds too and do like those Love Birds do? Me and you! Love Birds seem so much happier than others. Theres just something about being together. Why cant we be like Love Birds too? Let’s do like those Love Birds do! Me and you! Two becoming one can be so much fun. It's not really good to be alone! Theres no law against love, your gods gift from above! Whatever’s done in Love cannot be wrong! Love Birds seem so much happier than others. Theres just something about being together. Why cant we be like Love Birds too? Let’s do like those Love Birds do! Me and you!

MY INNER HOME (Words & Music: Simone Helle) Mummy can you tell me: Where is my home? Daddy, tell me: Can I feel safe? Will I have to go my way all alone? My heart feels like a bird in a cage. I need someone to love me just the way that I am. I need someone to share the things I do. The more I beg the more they turn their backs on me. I'm tired of playing this game of bitterness and shame. So I've started to take a look at myself and now I realize I can't demand any love. As long as I don't love myself with all my different colours the more the pain the less the joy I feel. Looking at myself is still amazing me. I start to learn and understand. And here's the most exciting thing I'm able to see: All I long for is in the world and me! And my heart starts to feel so light and free!

LET`S FACE THE MUSIC AND DANCE (Words & Music: Irving Berlin) There may be trouble ahead, but while there's moonlight and music and love and romance, let's face the music and dance. Before the fiddlers have fled, before they ask us to pay the bill and while we still got the chance, let's face the music and dance. Soon we'll be without the moon, singing a different tune and then... There may be teardrops to shed. So while there's moonlight and music and love and romance, let's face the music and dance.

LET US AGREE 04:15
LET US AGREE (Words & Music: Simone Helle) Let us! Let us agree! Oh yeah! Let us agree. Let us agree we are different in how we talk and we are different in the clothes that we wear. Let us agree we are different in the colour of skin and hair and different in the way that we walk. Let us agree we are different in how we fight and we are different in the rules that we accept. Let us agree we are different in how we call our higher might - and different in the values that lead us to act. Let us agree to come together and to see and feel with open hearts. Let us agree that love and understanding are the bases for accepting the world’s, yes the world’s different parts! Let us agree we all need love on our side and we ’long to be seen by the people around. Let us agree that the acceptance of human rights all over the world is the basis of peace and dignity for everyone! Let us! Let us agree! Oh yeah! Let us agree.

THIS FRAGILE LOVE (Words & Music: Simone Helle) Let me feel your kisses like the moon's glow in a summer night. Let me feel your soft breath delicate and light. Let me sleep soft like the redness of a sunset sky covered with the fragrance of a thousand roses' sighs. Imagine an embrace by the wings of an ocean breeze. Soft as a rosy dawn and constant like century-old trees. Let this fragile bond of love not be handled too rough. Though this love feels safe, so safe, with a sense of basic trust. 'Cause every love's a fragile love!
8.
YOU MUST BELIEVE IN SPRING (Words: Marilyn & Allan Bergman / Music: Michel Legrand) When lonely feelings chill the meadows of your mind just think if Winter comes can Spring be far behind? Beneath the deepest snows the secret of a rose is merely that it knows - you must believe in Spring! Just as a tree is sure its leaves will reappear it knows its emptiness is just the time of year. The frozen mountain dreams of April's melting streams - how crystal clear it seems - you must believe in Spring! You must believe in love and trust it's on its way. Just as the sleeping rose awaits the kiss of May. So in a world of snow of things that come and go - where what you think you know - you can't be certain of? You must believe in Spring and love!

GOD BLESS THE CHILD (Words: Billie Holiday & Music: Arthur Herzog Jr.) Them that's got shall get, them that's not shall lose. So the Bible said and it still is news. Mama may have, Papa may have. But God bless the child that's got his own, that's got his own. Yes, the strong gets more while the weak ones fade. Empty pockets don't ever make the grade - Mama may have, Papa may have. But God bless the child that's got his own, that's got his own. Money, you've got lots of friends crowding round the door. When you're gone, spending ends they don't come no more. Rich relations give crust of bread and such. You can help yourself, but don't ask too much. Mama may have, Papa may have. But God bless the child that's got his own, that's got his own.

LULLABY FOR A LITTLE STAR (Words & Music: Simone Helle) Fall asleep soon, my little star. We love you all from near or from far! As part of this world you're ment to feel secure under its firmament. If there are tears you cannot endure think of our love of wich you can be sure! Shadow and light are one, just regard both or you'll understand none. May all your dreams be peaceful and bright, encourage you in the magical night. Find your inner rest to great each day joyfully at its best! Fall asleep soon, my little star. We love you all from near or from far! As part of this world you're ment to feel secure under its firmament.

about

On 16.06. Simone Helle's second album "My Starry Eyes" will be released via Timezone Records, Heimat PR. The 10 track work paves the way for the multi-layered artist into the public eye and combines current topics with the expressiveness of great jazz divas. With her mixture of powerful as well as tender interpretations Simone Helle tells very personal stories like the question of home ("My Inner Home"). Her storytelling style is versatile, draws on the tradition of the Great American Songbook and builds a bridge to a Modern Mainstream Jazz, which is influenced by Gospel, Funk and World Music. Her songs are artistic statements for a tolerant coexistence and lived (cultural) diversity under the umbrella of human rights ("Let us agree"), or odes to motherly love ("Lullaby for a little Star", "My Starry Eyes"). After a longer break, Helle, artistically matured, stands for self-confidence, mindfulness, cheerfulness, courage and optimism.
